After graduating from Staffordshire University in 2009 with a 2:1 in BA (Hons) Animation I spent my time working with and refining my animation techniques.
I was in contact with many industry professionals at the time and found a good mentor in Gary Talbot (A Principal Animator at ‘Rare Limited’). I soon discovered that Gary was a highly creative and effective tutor, full of excellent advice and tips.
It was with him that I created some of my early high level short films, some of which I am still proud to have in my showreel.
While researching animators in my local community I discovered a team of animator/directors Mark and James Carrol, the founders of ‘Evil Twin Artworks’. I joined them as a volunteer on the group sessions they ran, helping young people develop their creative talents and media skills. These workshops included the use of Flash and Premiere to create short films, animations and music videos.
Several months later, I created concept models in ‘Maya’ for a game they are hoping to develop. I also modelled other conceptual items that will be used in the Beta version of the game.
Since graduating I have been invited to companies for interviews and, on some occasions, animation tests. These tests required that I both understood and had the ability to use the in-house software and tools provided (or alternative animation software from ‘Maya’, which I currently use).
On one occasion I was given an opportunity to go on site with 'Lionhead Studios' for a facial animation test set up on a short sequence using video footage and a mirror for reference.
Unfortunately the project I was interviewing for was later suspended; however I received some very positive feedback from my recruiter.

In the summer of 2010 I worked as a runner for ‘Passion Pictures’, filling in for a member of staff who was away. For the fortnight of my employment I performed general duties to help the department with anything they needed for production. I would commute from my home in Swindon every morning, arriving in London early enough to start work promptly (and miss the peek train fares!).
In late 2010 I was contact by Oliver Simonsen, the founder of 'What Comics Entertainment' and Director of the short film ‘Cerebus 3D’. I worked for him as a Volunteer Animator on the production of several short animations for his upcoming film. Most of these sequences involved dialogue and the interaction between two characters.
In early 2011 I was hired as a voluntary animator by 'Phoenix Online Studios' and put to work on sequences for Episode 4 of 'The Silver Lining' (an episodic adventure game based upon the ‘King's Quest’ series).
I produced 18 short animations for Episode 4 including idle poses, group scenes ranging from four to ten characters, dialogue scenes, as well as character, camera and object animations.
Through 2010 to 2011 I was simultaneously working three voluntary positions, alongside three part-time jobs.
I am a hard, dedicated worker and passionate about animation. I will always work to the best of my ability with whatever it is I do.
I am currently looking for full time work in Animation and Creative Media...
